Alumnae Relations

Spring 2010

To the Alumnae Sisters of Gamma Phi Beta,

It has already been quite a busy semester for the Delta Tau chapter of Gamma Phi Beta! There have been several philanthropy events, sisterhood events, and campus-wide recognitions for our sisters, and we are very proud of how well our chapter is doing so far this year.

We had a successful Crush party in February at the Hourglass and just held Spring Formal at the Rusty Rail, which went without a single problem. We will be hosting another Crush party at Nichol’s and Beal in the next month, and have recently formed a social committee that focuses on individual pledge class bonding to encourage deeper connections for our sisters. Thanks to our wonderful social chairs for doing such a great job!

Delta Tau has also had some incredible ladies honored this semester academically including inductions into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society for Jenna Marks and Mindy Goldenberg and six new Konosioni members (Margaret Brower, Meg Hanley, Zunaira Javed, Kaitlyn Kelly, Hilary Olshonsky, and Laura Bostwick). In addition to these awards, our chapter has begun to recognize individual members with our Gamma Fives Program, which honors five outstanding sisters each month at formal chapter meeting. Gamma Phi Beta was also awarded at the annual Greek Life Awards for Outstanding Advisor, Outstanding Collaborative Project with Phi Delta Theta, Samantha Horn as Sorority Scholar of the Year, and Chapter of the Year. Congratulations, Delta Tau, on an awesome year!

Finally, we held a Valentine’s Day Party for Sidekicks in February and look forward to hosting Crescent Classic on April 11th.  Following the success of last year’s Crescent Classic, this year we are once again putting on a Soccer Tournament that invites the whole campus to participate and involves local businesses in supporting Madison County Children’s Camp. We look forward to once again pledging our support for this great cause.

Your sisters appreciate your continued support in our chapter, and would welcome any suggestions or questions through email at deltataualumna@gmail.com.

In IIKE,

Delta Tau of Gamma Phi Beta

The House Corporation Board

The House Corporation is a group of alumnae and collegiate Delta Tau's who are interested in providing and maintaining a comfortable home for the chapter. After a collegiate member has paid the local building fund, she is then a member of the House Corporation of Delta Tau of Gamma Phi Beta.

The Annual meeting of the Corporation is held every spring during Colgate’s Reunion weekend. The entire Delta Tau chapter and alumnae members are invited to this meeting. At that time the corporation is informed about the financial status, building and decorating projects, etc. of the house. Members of the Board of Directors for the Corporation (the House Corporation Board or HCB) are also elected at this meeting.

Five directors are elected and four are ex-officio with voting rights (ex- officio members = Chapter President, Financial Vice President, House Manager, and Chapter Advisor). The HCB meets at least 4 times a year.

The HCB works very hard to make the house a more pleasant place to live for the members of the chapter. Recently, it has completed its project of providing heat for the sun porch. Now the members will have another warm and pleasant area in the house to study and relax.

At the 2008 International Convention of Gamma Phi Beta, our House Corporation Board received the House Corporation Board Efficiency Award, and Honorable Mention for the House Corporation Board/Collegiate Relations Award!
