Gamma Phi Beta has a long history of community service and philanthropic participation. The main philanthropy of Gamma Phi Beta is support for girls’ camping activities because camping for girls has a visionary cause. It never goes out of style and is able to adapt to the needs of society. It provides the space and opportunity for young girls to interact with older mentors and allows girls to develop a positive relationship with one another and the natural world around them. Gamma Phi Beta’s main vision for this project is to build resiliency in young girls who are financially deprived, physically impaired, medically disabled, mentally challenged, or abused.
Following the 2002 Convention in Washington, D.C., Gamma Phi Beta established a partnership with Camp Fire USA, an organization that has campsites nationwide for girls of all ages. To learn more about Camp Fire USA or make a donation, please visit their website at www.campfire.org. In 2008, Girl Guides of Canada was added as the official philanthropic organization for Gamma Phi's Canadian Chapters. Visit them at http://www.girlguides.ca/.
For over 20 years, the Delta Tau Chapter has supported the local Madison County Children’s Camp. The camp (in Eaton, NY) is primarily funded by grants and donations. About 650 children ages 8 through 13 can attend one week of the seven-week camp season free of charge each summer, participating in outdoor activities and various forms of counseling. Delta Tau supports this effort throughout the year with various fundraisers, including their annual spring fundraiser held each April. The Delta Tau women are thrilled with the success of our newly introduced Crescent Classic soccer tournament first held in 2009. The Colgate campus responded with great enthusiasm and everyone had a great time eating barbeque, listening to music, showing off their soccer skills, and most importantly, raising money and awareness about the amazing Madison County Children's Camp!! Our members are very excited for the 2010 Crescent Classic tournament!
